Kaiden was very young when the beatings started, his mother was a mean drunk and after his father left when he was four years of age, it got worse, markings were left on his face and body, bruises lasted for days and just as they would heal he’d get a new round of them. Kaiden’s mother raped him often, which explains his tendency to be very wary of some people, especially who remind him of his mother. He had few friends, if any, as he never really believed people wanted him as their friend. Thinking he was the no good piece of trash his mother would call him often.
Kaiden’s powers started to come around when he was about eight years old and he’d never learned to control or perfect them. This is why the teen is still figuring out what he can and can’t do with his power. When he was around thirteen his only friend at the time, the school janitor, Mr Hayword, had died. The teen decided to leave home, his mother had found an abusive partner who beat Kaiden along with his mother. He had heard of heroes who may be able to help him control his power.
Kaiden is far from a genius but he’s not stupid, in fact as he doesn’t talk very much he learns things about people that others may not have picked up on, he’s very intuitive and goes with his gut. Though he does tend to be a little bit too lenient with some of his friends. He tends to bypass their job descriptions because they’re kind to him, and that was a rarity for Kaiden. Kaiden can be a very vulnerable teenager but he’s still a kid at heart, he craves the feeling of love and acceptance as he never had that as a child. He accepts the love he thinks he deserves.
If you talk to the teenager long enough you will soon find him talking of a man named Mr. Hayword, that and only that. Mr. Hayword was the one time during Kai’s childhood that he really loved, Mr. Hayword taught Kaiden everything he now knows about the arts. Kaiden is now an adept painter and pianist, he also has an incredible voice though he doesn’t sing a lot. Along with this he’s quite the photographer, finding beauty in things that appear broken, much like himself. Mr Hayword would listen to Kaiden’s stories, he would keep him safe at school and the boy would often find snacks in his locker, having told the janitor that his mother doesn’t make him anything for lunch.
Kaiden may be adept in the arts but his academics is horrible. He really doesn’t know much about Mathematics or business, having left school at 13 there was a lot that he didn’t grow up knowing. His general knowledge on movies and TV shows is limited, though he’s catching up very well.
